From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Grange Hotel is an historic building located in Brampton, Cambridgeshire, England.
Originally built as a private house in 1773, The Grange has had a varied history. In the 1820s it was owned by local philanthropist Lady Bernard Sparrow of Brampton Park, who used it as a girls school. On her death it passed to her son-in-law, the Duke of Manchester, who sold it as a private residence.
Extensive building work was carried out in the 1860s which gave the house a more Victorian character. During the second World War it was requisitioned and became the headquarters and operations centre of the American Eighth Air Force.
|n 1981 the Grange was converted to a hotel, and is now run by Nick and Susanna Steiger. It runs as a hotel, bar and restaurant.
