Grande Size Me is an episode in the animated series Kim Possible.

[edit] Summary

Having skipped taking Health Class as a freshman, Ron Stoppable is forced to take it as a senior alongside the freshman (including Jim and Tim Possible). However, during class, Ron takes offense at the standards of what makes a well-balanced diet, and vows to prove his point to the Health Class (which the ever-perpetual Mr. Barkin is subbing for).

Meanwhile, over in the HenchCo. building, company CEO Jack Hench is going over information for new villainous products. One product, "Project Titan", is being reported as a failure. However, the creation of an impressive (if clunky) Molecular Transducer piques his interest.

At Bueno Nacho, Kim Possible is trying to convince her stubborn boyfriend that the Health Class and its "Wheel of Good Eating" is not so bad. Ron, however, is adamant in his desire to prove his point, and declares that he is going to change his diet to nothing but Bueno Nacho (Grande Size only).

It isn't long before the saturated fats and other preservatives start to affect him. As Rufus records every aspect of the diet plan on film, Ron finds himself short on breath, is unable to fit into his clothes, and is generally looking bloated. However, Ron refuses to see things Kim's way. Kim's tirade is eventually interrupted by Wade, who warns Kim that HenchCo. is holding an auction for their new Molecular Transducer, and that every major villain is going to be there. Kim decides to relieve HenchCo. of their new product.

At HenchCo., Mr. Hench is demonstrating the Transducer, which can adjust the molecular density of anything. Kim and Ron attempts to make off with the company's newest device by sneaking through the air vents, but Ron's added weight causes him to fall through the vents and into a chemical vat, labeled "Project Titan". Kim, meanwhile, manages to steal the Transducer from all the villains and escape with Ron.

After consulting with Wade, Kim decides to deliver the Transducer to Global Justice. However, her real concern is with Ron, whose diet of Nacos and sodas (virtually any kind of food really) is making him even bigger than proper health should allow. Meanwhile, Mr. Hench orders his employees to retrieve the Transducer, preferably before the other villains can get it first. Mr. Hench also gets an update on Project Titan. Apparently, the chemicals only take effect if the user's body is full of preservatives, fat, and artificial flavorings, and the end result is something that even Mr. Hench doesn't want happening to his own worst enemy.

Since Ron's Bueno Nacho diet consists of nothing but fat and calories, the chemical eventually takes effect, mutating Ron into an orange-colored behemoth. His mental abilities severely impaired by his mutation, Ron has only one thing on his mind: food.

Meanwhile, Kim and her brothers are driving en route to their rendezvous with Global Justice at a nearby gas station (the Tweebs wanted to go to the mall, which was conveniently near the gas station), with Kim's villainous acquaintances pursuing her for the Transducer. However, her trip is derailed when Hulk Ron comes marching through Middleton, forcing Kim to follow. Wade suggests that feeding Ron a well-balanced meal could reverse the effects, and the Tweebs second the suggestion, saying that it's every freshman's dream to force-feed veggies to a senior. Despite Hulk Ron's might and continuous interference from the villains, Kim and the Tweebs successfully manage to force-feed Ron back to normal by giving him a full-course meal of healthy foods.

With Ron back to normal and the Transducer safely with Global Justice, Kim breathes a sigh of relief. Having learned his lesson, Ron agrees to keep things balanced with his food.

[edit] Notes

  • This episode was first offered as a video on the Disney Channel website on February 24th, 2007, a full week before its premier.
  • The episode's title and the documentary that Ron is doing are a parody of Super Size Me.
  • Type B personalities tend to have tunnel vision, ie a single focus on one thing to the detriment of any other possibility. The episode highlights that.
  • The end-credits scene spoofs (1) the breaking the fourth wall gimmick, with Ron speaking to the viewers (but Kim, Monique, and everyone else puzzled as to what he is doing), and (2) the "moral of today's story" closeouts, which used to be common with kid's tv-shows.
  • For the first time in the series, a fast-food burger chain is mentioned and shown within the show's world.
  • At the HenchCo. auction, Shego is seen alongside Drakken, though she has no lines and is absent from the chase sequence later on in the episode. The fact that Shego is even in the same room with Drakken hints at the possibility of the two working together again (despite the turbulence they had between them in Mad Dogs and Aliens). The possibility is confirmed in the next episode, Clothes Minded, where Drakken and Shego are once again partnered up.
  • Same gag -- After Ron returns to normal, his pants fall off.
