Grand River is a city in Decatur County, Iowa, United States. The population was 225 at the 2000 census.

Grand River is located at 40°49′8″N, 93°57′45″W (40.818940, -93.962587)GR1.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 0.5 km² (0.2 mi²), all land.

As of the censusGR2 of 2000, there were 225 people, 104 households, and 55 families residing in the city. The population density was 413.7/km² (1,079.8/mi²). There were 123 housing units at an average density of 226.1/km² (590.3/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 97.78% White, 0.44% Native American, 0.44% from other races, and 1.33% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 0.44% of the population.

There were 104 households out of which 24.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 45.2% were married couples living together, 6.7% had a female householder with no husband present, and 46.2% were non-families. 41.3% of all households were made up of individuals and 28.8% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.16 and the average family size was 3.02.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.0% under the age of 18, 5.3% from 18 to 24, 20.9% from 25 to 44, 19.6% from 45 to 64, and 30.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 females there were 73.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 69.3 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $22,344, and the median income for a family was $26,964. Males had a median income of $23,750 versus $19,750 for females. The per capita income for the city was $14,272. About 7.0% of families and 14.9% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.7% of those under the age of eighteen and 27.0% of those sixty five or over.
