Grand Blanc is a city in Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 8,242 at the 2000 census. The city is situated within Grand Blanc Charter Township, but is politically independent. A May 2006 vote ended governmental research into a plan to consolidate the city and township governments.

The local public high school is Grand Blanc Community High School.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 9.7 km² (3.8 mi²). 9.7 km² (3.8 mi²) of it is land and 0.27% is water.

As of the census2 of 2000, there were 8,242 people, 3,542 households, and 2,153 families residing in the city. The population density was 848.6/km² (2,197.3/mi²). There were 3,725 housing units at an average density of 383.5/km² (993.1/mi²). The racial makeup of the city was 89.17% White, 5.01% African American, 0.27% Native American, 3.22% Asian, 0.58% from other races, and 1.76% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.67% of the population.

There were 3,542 households out of which 30.9% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 49.4% were married couples living together, 8.5% had a female householder with no husband present, and 39.2% were non-families. 33.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 11.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.29 and the average family size was 2.98.

In the city the population was spread out with 24.6% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 28.6% from 25 to 44, 23.7% from 45 to 64, and 14.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 91.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 86.6 males.

The median income for a household in the city was $54,099, and the median income for a family was $82,456. Males had a median income of $61,522 versus $31,051 for females. The per capita income for the city was $32,622. About 3.7% of families and 5.5% of the population were below the poverty line, including 6.3% of those under age 18 and 3.9% of those age 65 or over.

Grand Blanc is the home of the Buick Open, a PGA Tour golf tournament that is held annually at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club and brings thousands of golf fans to the Genesee County area. It is also the location of the Worldwide Headquarters for General Motors Service and Parts Operations SPO.
