Graco Ramírez

Graco Ramírez Garrido Abreu (b. in Villahermosa, Tabasco) is a Mexican left-wing politician affiliated to the Party of the Democratic Revolution (PRD) who serves in the upper house of the Mexican Congress as senator representing the State of Morelos.

Graco Ramírez holds a bachelor's degree in law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). He is the son of a Mexican military.

Graco Ramírez began his political career as an Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) member; he served as president of the PRI in Tabasco. In 1945 he was separated from the PRI following some internal allegations of inappropriate use of monetary funds. Graco then became a founder and member of the Socialist Worker's Party, the Mexican Socialist Party and the Party of the Democratic Revolution.
Graco Ramírez has served more than one time in the lower house of the Mexican Congress. In 2006 he was elected senator, hence he will be serving in the upper house of the Congress during the LX and LXI Legislatures (2006–2012).
