In chess, D82 is the ECO code for the Grünfeld 4.Bf4 chess opening. The game begins 1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 g6 3.Nc3 d5 4.Bf4. This is considered a safe continuation for White. White opts for the initiative on the queenside with a smaller pawn center. In the D82, play proceeds 4...Bg7 5.e3 c5 (Black plays 0-0 in the D83 and D84) 6.dxc5 Qa5 with White's choice of 7th move, either cxd5, Qb3, Qa4 or Rc1.
