Grästorp municipality is a small Swedish municipality in Västra Götaland County, in western Sweden where the town Grästorp (pop. 3,000) is seat.
Grästorp is located right in the middle of Västra Götaland County, by the shores of lake Vänern.
The area has been inhabited at least since the Viking Age as it contains several runestone. To the left a stone by the church at Sal. The incription reads "Torgård satte denna sten efter Toke, sin frände", meaning "Torgård raised this stone for Toke, his friend".
Grästorp was none the less only a small rural community without any town until the second half of the 19th century. Due to its population increase, it received rights as a köping (a merchancy city) on November 4, 1898.
It became a municipality in 1971, with the municipal reform. From that time stems the coat of arms.
