GQV

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

GQV was the callsign of a British experimental transmitter, which transmitted between March 17, 2003 and April 8, 2003 nearly continuously on 55.5 kHz with a transmission output power of 30 kilowatts.

GQV used as antenna a 1341 metre long wire carried up by a captive balloon.

The usage of an antenna carried from a captive balloon for a period of 22 days in connection with a 30 kilowatt transmitter was very unconventional.
