F-Zero: GP Legend is a racing game for the Game Boy Advance in the F-Zero series. It uses the same engine as F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, a previous F-Zero game on the Game Boy Advance. Gameplay is very similar and just like the past F-Zero Game Boy game, this one is considered a reboot.

The game features eight playable characters, including newcomer Rick Wheeler (Ryu Suzaku in Japan), the evil Black Shadow, and series hero Captain Falcon. As in earlier games, a story-driven campaign leads players in a series of futuristic races through the diverse environments of many different planets. F-Zero GP Legend offers time trials, a Challenge mode, and four Grand Prix events. Link cable racing allows up to four players to compete together. Unlike the Japanese version, the Europe and North American versions of the game do not include e-Reader support. [1]

[edit] Additions and Differences from F-Zero: Maximum Velocity

  • A boost can be used any time after the first lap if the machine has enough energy, however using it will damage the machine.
  • A new story mode, where the players can play as many different people, most of whom have to be unlocked.
  • The story itself takes place during the traditional F-Zero time period rather than the post-Captain Falcon era in Maximum Velocity.

[edit] Characters

Rick Wheeler/Ryu Suzaku — Rick is the main character in the game. He's from the year 2051 and is a racer and an officer. He went into "cold sleep" during a chase scene, making him miss a lot of things, including proposing to his girlfriend Haruka and therefore develops a bitter resentment toward Zoda and would like to turn him in to justice one day. His vehicle, the Dragon Bird, was created by Dr. Clash. Rick had "borrowed" the machine to leave the area, only to find that he has indeed slept 150 years and is way in the future. Rick's original name from the Japanese version is Ryu Suzaku.
