Given all the controversy about his resignation, Richard Butler probably needs an article, and I'm amazed that he doesn't seem to already have one, given his history.

I'm at a bit of a loss about how to name said article, however. I can't find any mention of a middle name, and he hasn't exactly had one occupation that he's explicitly known for - diplomat? governor? weapons inspector? Any ideas? Ambi 12:53, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Hmm...someone created it at (diplomat), but I'm not convinced that's the best name for it. Ambi 13:06, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

It'll do. All that matters is that people can find it, and the disambiguation page will lead people to it. Adam 13:12, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Oh, that was me (in response to someone adding it to Current Events). It seemed like a sensible, neutral name, but feel free to change it to something more sensible (I also failed to find a middle name, or a decent professional biography). I'd appreciate it if someone could amend the "resigned" sentence in the article to explain why he resigned. -- Finlay McWalter | Talk 13:30, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

No-one knows. The Murdoch press hounded him until the feeble Premier Lennon told him he had to go, but no-one knows what the real issue is. Adam 13:48, 9 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Some of the specific allegations have been aired in the Melbourne papers, and I've got to say - if they're true, they're pretty damning. I'll try and find the article I read when I get home. Ambi 00:42, 10 Aug 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Tasmanian Governors

Sir Ernest Clark is listed as Tasmanian Governor from 1933 to 1945. I click on his name/link, and an unknighted Britsh actor's profile appears. Born in 1912, I doubt that he bacame governor, as he would have only been 21 at the time !

Thanks for noticing. I'd guess they're two differnt people with the same name, and nobody has written an article on this one yet. I've changed the link and put a disambiguation line in the Ernest Clark article pointing to Ernest Clark (governor). --Scott Davis Talk 11:18, 11 October 2005 (UTC)
