[edit] Naming
Why switch the names to "governorate"?
- governorate is the official Iraqi naming
- this is more in line with translation of muhafazah in other arab countries
- the term province is usually reserved for wilaya
[edit] Discussion=
I would favor switching, to have an all-arab solution Tobias Conradi 06:52, 9 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Merge
- don't merge, as it is usual for subdivision articles not to be merged Tobias Conradi (Talk) 20:46, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Do other countries have separate articles for subdivisions? I don't see the point of this one as there doesn't seem to be any difference. AndrewRT 12:17, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- I see a lot of differences, I don't know about your screen size, maybe you only see the navigation?
- Category:Subdivisions by country helps to find more Subdivisions of XY articles (and categories). Tobias Conradi (Talk) 19:32, 13 March 2006 (UTC)

- When I meant difference, I should have said I dont' see much information within "subdivisions" that isn't in "governorates". I was just trying to tidy up the categories but know you mention the other countries I agree they should be kept separate. Besides another subsection - regions of Iraq will soon be needed!! [edit] Kirkuk
Is there a source for the name change from At-Tamim to Kirkuk? Being so controversial we should enforce that policy here. AndrewRT 21:56, 12 June 2006 (UTC)
