November 1: Diwali in Hinduism (2005).
- Births of present MPs: Santosh Gangwar (1948), Jaisingrao Gaikwad Patil (1952), Gadakh Tukaram Gangadhar (1953), Kirip Chaliha (1955) and Dr. Arun Kumar Sarmah (1956).
- 1956: Hyderabad State was merged with Telangana region to form Andhra Pradesh, Saurashtra was merged into Bombay State and formation of new Kerala state.
- 1966: Haryana was curved out of the mostly Hindi-speaking eastern portion of Punjab.
- 1967: Corporation of Kochi came into existence.
- 2000: Formation of new state Chhattisgarh which was a portion of Madhya Pradesh.
- 2004: R. R. Patil swore in as Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra.
- 2005: Yogesh Kumar Sabharwal swore in as new Chief Justice.
