Governor of the Vatican State
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The figure of the Governor of the Vatican City State has been officially abolished after being vacant since 1952: the last (and first) effective Governor was Marquis Camillo Serafini, who died in 1952. After this time no other governor was ever appointed.
Marquis Camillo Serafini was born in Rome, of a noble family of which Domenico Cardinal Serafini was also a member. Marquis Serafini was a noted numismatic and wrote various monographs on numismatology. Serafini was Governor of the Vatican City State between 1929 and 1952.
