Gourdon is a commune of the Lot département, in France.

The small town, Gourdon, close to world famous Rocamadour with its dizzying cliff-faces, is situated in one of the richest historical regions in France. It is impossible to talk about Gourdon without talking about its prehistoric past. The region offers the biggest concentration of prehistoric sites in the world. Gourdon is the capital of la Bouriane, part of the Quercy, which extends up to the Dordogne River and neighbours the Périgord.
