[edit] 'gang-bashing'

on the 13/4/06 i saw that this page had had the following text entered

"(at least four out of 2006's prefect body gang-bashed another student in 2005, and were never punished for their actions)"

now, for a start, it wasn't formatted particularly well, but that's not really the point. i don't think the idea of this page is to somehow break news or make accusations about actions, events or whatever, it's meant to be an encyclopaedia. hence the stuff in it needs to be somewhat scholarly in nature and not what i would consider to be gossip (true or not). if it were a known, reported event with some form of third-party validation available then there would be an argument for the relevance of the text, but as it stands i can't leave it there. cheers, Dibo 05:45, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] forum

I think the section of the forum is not needed, or at least, the information about posts etc. unnecessary. The link at the bottom is enough.

If you think otherwise, comment here before adding it again.

[edit] Drummo

Surely something about the nationally-reported incident involving the infamous Robert "Drummo" Drummond and Melanie Docwra - to make the news on a couple of occasion surely warrants its' inclusion, even if it does damage the integrity of the school - if no one objects, I will add it in about 5-7 days.

...even if it does damage the integrity of the school... That is precisely the reason it should not be included. I, for one, object, and unless you have a good reason to put it in don't do it - Wikipedia isn't the Women's Weekly. Nathan M 12:51, 14 July 2006 (UTC)
SMH = Women's Weekly?  Killfest 09:00, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
What I intended to imply was that the Drummond story is just news/gossip, and not entirely necessary or appropriate for an encyclopedia. We could argue back and forth, but frankly, there is no good reason for its inclusion. Unless someone else votes for it shouldn't be added. Nathan M 09:46, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
I'll vote for it. There you go.
You can omit it if you think it's not notable, but not because it's not "good" or "appropriate". --Ptcamn 11:38, 16 July 2006 (UTC)
Probably meets the notability criterion - it's a reasonably (in)famous incident. Dibo 05:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Aes-Sedai: Just adding to this, I was saying how the renown has faded, this was edited to say the complete opposite. Currently attending Gosford High School myself, I have asked a range of younger students about the scandal and I can testify that the renown around this incident HAS faded, no one actually remembers it - there were a few articles on it and a TV presentation but the renown has faded. I accept that it happened but I added that it is no longer talked about and that knowledge of the event is limited at best, and has diminished. One thing that is NOT argueable - Robest Drummond is not in a relationship with Melanie, the student. I also know her as a family friend and they are no longer together. My article was edited to contradict this. Aes-Sedai - 4:50PM AEST 27th Feb,2007

[edit] Culture

There's been a block of text inserted repeatedly of late to do wiht the school cross-country. The start of the text is interesting, and could certainly warrant inclusion were there any supporting information referenced but is otherwise probably in breach of Wikipedia:No original research.

The latter part is simply spam about some band. It has no place in the article. If the band were truly notable, a third party would be writing a post about them rather than putting advertorial content in this article.Dibo 05:06, 16 August 2006 (UTC)

Exactly my thoughts, it doesn't belong in the article. If I see it again I'll remove it... Nathan M 12:47, 18 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Dr. Chamberlain

Perhaps it should be mentioned in the staff section that Michael Chamberlain, of the "dingo-ate-my-baby" fame, is now a teacher at our school, on the account that he not only has his own wikipedia article but it is a somewhat relevant piece of information (as, if not more, relevant than the "Drummo" section). Perhaps, simply adding his name as well as adding other notable teachers, such as Dr Butler who too has been in newspapers due to his academic exploits, as well as Mr Broadbent, husband of the Olympic athlete. Ian X490 10:54, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Actually, Alison Broadbent retired. And if you want to add something about Dr Butler and his ultra-violet laser-lights be my guest :P Aes-Sedai 6:00 PM AEST March 27th
