Gordon Lee (officer of arms)

Gordon Ambrose de Lisle Lee, CB, CVO (1862-1927) was a long-serving officer of arms at the College of Arms in London. Lee's heraldic career began in 1889 with his appointment to the office of Bluemantle Pursuivant of Arms in Ordinary. He continued in this office until the death of George William Marshall in 1905. On 29 November of that year, Lee was promoted to York Herald of Arms in Ordinary to take Marshall's place. In 1922, Lee was advanced to the position of Norroy King of Arms, and he held this office for four years until 5 October 1926. On this date, Lee was advanced to the office of Clarenceux King of Arms on the death of William Alexander Lindsay. Lee served as Clarenceux until his own death in 1927.
