Gordon J. Brand

Gordon J Brand (born 6 August 1955) is an English golfer. He turned professional in 1976 and was a full member of the European Tour from 1977 to 1994. He made the top thirty on the Order of Merit seven times, and ranking was fifth in 1986, in which year he finished as runner-up to Greg Norman in The Open Championship at Turnberry. His sole European Tour victory was the 1989 Volvo Belgian Open, but he also won several events in Africa and he won the 1987 Alfred Dunhill Cup for England with team mates Nick Faldo and Howard Clark. He was a member of the 1983 European Ryder Cup team. After working for the European Tour as a tournament referee for several years he quit in 2005 to play on the European Seniors Tour and in 2006 he won his first senior tournament at the OKI Castellón Open de España Senior and finished fourth on the seniors tour order of merit. He finished 10th and was the highest placed European at the 2006 Senior British Open at Turnburry.
Gordon J Brand should not be confused with his Scottish contemporary Gordon Brand, Jnr.
