Gordon was an irascible though kind-hearted man who often displayed an amazing tendency to infuriate those that loved him the most. Gordon's most memorable storylines included the Queen jubilee show, his fishing trip with Max and his opening of a garden with Charlie Dimmock.

[edit] Character History

Gordon's first major storyline was providing comfort for his daughter Dawn when she struggled to fend off the advances of her mother’s new boyfriend, the creepy Terry. Mr C tried to help his first wife Angela overcome crippling debts, and tried to inject some discipline into the lives of his wayward children.

Mr C soon built up a witty repartee with Tony Hutchinson, when he became landlord of ‘Got it Taped’, and found himself in various scrapes in his desperate attempts to keep Max and Cindy on the straight and narrow.

However, things got bad for Mr C as he lost his beloved daughter, Dawn, and was saddened when Jude ran off a year later after getting herself in trouble with the police. Mr C had opened his own mini supermarket called ‘Drive and Buy’ and he rediscovered the joys of romance later in life, falling for the recently divorced Helen Cunningham.

When he discovered that she was pregnant with his child, he did the honourable thing and offered to marry her. With Helen, came Mandy and Lewis Richardson, promoting the merging of the Cunninghams and Richardson families. Soon, Mr C became ‘Councillor of Chester’, when he had beaten tough competition from Tony Hutchinson and Matt Musgrove.

With the Richardson family came considerable angst, culminating in Lewis’s death, yet Mr C had proved himself to be a rock to his wife and together they had a son called Tom. Mr C went on to have image problems, when he turned fifty, and than started a new look making him ten years younger with the help of Nick O Conner.

Gordon’s world took a shock when son Max had told him that Helen was having an affair with Tony! When Max had told Mr C that, it was the same day that Gordon had to presented an award to Tony for businessman of the year. Gordon still went ahead to give the award to Tony and once it was over, Gordon made clear he knew all about Tony's affair.

Mr C was shattered even more, when Helen decided to leave him for Tony, but Gordon was convinced that Helen would return back to him. Struggling to cope without Helen, Gordon received comfort from David "Bombhead" Burke and Gordon became a father figure to Bombhead. Eventually, Helen returned back to Gordon and with some match fixing from Mandy and Max, the pair was reunited.

However, tragedy struck for Gordon when he had a heart scare whilst driving with Helen and Tom and Gordon's heart attack caused a serious car accident. Gordon died in hospital, while Helen also died, leaving young Tom an orphan. In Helen and Gordan's will he was suppose to live with Mandy but instead ended up living with Max.

Meanwhile, Bombhead took the news of Gordon's death badly. When his mum died, he started to see Mr C's ghost, who tried to convince him to tell his friends about his mum's death and that he needed help. After he got help, his visions of Mr C's ghost stopped.
