[edit] Residence Halls
[edit] Bromley Hall
An apartment style residence hall. Built in the 50's and renovated in the 90's, Bromley is often not considered the "nicest" apartment option on campus, but remains popular because it of its innocent and fun loving atmosphere.
[edit] Chase Hall
The newest residence hall on campus overlooks the quad and is called "the hotel" by students because of its modern comfort and style. A coffee shop and several classrooms are located in the basement of Chase.
[edit] Drew Hall
The oldest residence hall on campus, it is often mistaken as a maintenance building. Aside from being mistake for being a maintenance building Drew Hall is the oldest dorm on campus and has been occupied by students for over 50 years.
[edit] Ferrin Hall
Ferrin Hall is one of Gordon's largest residence halls, built in the 1980's, it is fairly new and clean. The majority of students who live, or have lived in Ferrin have grown to love it for its community atmosphere and prankish attitude.
[edit] Fulton Hall
Built in 2001 up on the hill overlooking Coy Pond, Fulton Hall is known for its suite style housing. Many students have complained about the lack of community at Fulton. As the saying goes "Oh, you live in Fulton too?".
[edit] Gedney House
A road hall located near the Benett athletic center, Gedney is a house designated to foster tolerance and diversity. One could say that Gedney is one of the more politically involved spots on campus.
[edit] Wilson, Evans, and Lewis Halls
Wilson, Evans, and Lewis Halls were built with government money in the 1960s. Located along the "mini quad," these dorms provide excellent community at the price of older living conditions. Because all beds and dressers are attached to the wall, there is a maximum amount of storage space for residents.
[edit] Nyland Hall
Nyland, along with Fulton, was built on the hill overlooking Coy Pond in 2001. Nyland is similar to Fulton although Nyland has been rumored to have more community that Fulton.
[edit] Rider Hall
Rider Hall is a road house located across the street from the Benett Center. Students complain about the long walk from Rider Hall to other spots on campus. Still, Rider has the reputation of housing disgruntled freshman and other renegades. Those who fit in on the isolated end of campus have a home in Rider
[edit] Tavilla
Apartment style housing overlooking Coy Pond. A desired spot for juniors and seniors, if they wish to stay on campus.
[edit] Faculty
Students can expect a solid education from faculty at Gordon College. The close faculty-student ratio allows for true relationships to be formed with dialogue that reaches beyond the classroom lecture. Gordon faculty value their relationships with students. Professors see those relationships as meaningful ways to fulfill an important Christian calling. More than 90 percent of faculty members at the College have earned terminal degrees in their fields. Many have published scholarly books and are recognized nationally as leading authorities in their disciplines.
Gordon College believes that true learning requires the guidance of someone who knows students’ particular skills and abilities; the inspiration of someone who has a passion for a given area of study; and the care of someone who is committed to living Christ’s love – all of which one will find in the faculty at Gordon College. Gordon’s commitment to an all-encompassing moral imagination is what makes it one of the nation’s top-ranked Christian colleges.
[edit] Fine Arts
Gordon is one of the nation’s few Christian colleges to offer top-notch programs in sculpting, painting, photography, music performance, theatre and stage design. The College’s music program is supported by nationally known performers and educators including Mia Chung, James Buswell, Carol Ou and Kenneth Phillips. Gordon is also proud to be the home of the international headquarters for Christians in the Visual Arts.
[edit] Student Life
Gordon College places great value on personal development and the health of its students. Gordon’s Residence Life program seeks to develop deep, lasting relationships and Christian community.
Gordon encourages students to get involved on campus beyond the classroom. Opportunities include leadership and involvement in such areas as the Gordon College Student Association, Student Ministries, Intramural Sports and the Campus Events Council.
Despite the activities the school offers, many students feel that Gordon is "boring" on the weekends and resort to playing card games, watching movies, or just fooling around on campus. In the warmer months, many students take walks in the Gordon Woods, go for swim in Gull Pond, or head over to the popular "Singing Beach" which is a mere two miles down the road. I-M sports, pranking, and playing frisbee on the "quad" are other popular student activities.
[edit] Philosophy & Faith
The adventures of a Gordon education help develop the intellectual sophistication and moral imagination to creatively use gifts and talents in the service of God and neighbor. Students applying to Gordon are asked to fill out a statement of faith and be willing to sign a Life and Conduct statement agreeing to the standards of behavior that Gordon values.
Gordon is the only non-denominational Christian college in New England, and strives to be an academic institution where its students are encouraged to give thoughtful consideration to the views and ideas presented from fellow students and faculty.
Recently, Gordon has associated itself with, and lent its imprimatur as a Christian institution to, so-called "progressive Christian" causes. For example, in February, 2006, President Carlberg signed the statement of the Evangelical Climate Initiative, calling upon Christians to take action on climate change "in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord." (http://www.christiansandclimate.org/signatories) Meanwhile, the college has declined to take public stances on embryo-destructive research and the definition of marriage, two issues that have attained recent prominence in Massachusetts, where the college is located.
[edit] Opportunities
Gordon seeks to provide students with on-campus and off-campus internships and hands-on work experience. The college’s close proximity to Boston allows for a large variety of internship opportunities that can be tailored to one’s academic needs and interests.
Gordon College also offers many opportunities for students to study off campus and abroad. Through Gordon’s own and affiliated programs, students have the option to study in over 20 countries.

[edit] History
Gordon College was founded in 1889 by Rev. Dr. Adoniram Judson Gordon as the Boston Missionary Training School in the basement of the Clarendon Street Church. Within 30 years the school outgrew the Clarendon Street Church location and moved to a new building in the Fenway portion of Boston, financed by a generous gift from Martha Frost. In 1955 Gordon moved to its current location in Wenham, MA. The Wenham campus is the former estate of Frederick Prince.
