Gordon Burnett Middle School was opened in 1996 on North Kingsway Road in Seffner, Florida.

The school is named in honor of William Gordon Burnett, Sr., a teacher and principal in Tampa, Florida until his death in 1988.

The school's colors are gray, green and terra cotta, and are reflected in the school's architecture and design.

The school's mascot is the gray wolf.
