Gordian Knot (publication)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Founded in late 2005 at the University of Chicago, the Gordian Knot is a student publication that, according to its manifesto, "publish[es] articles on art, religion, culture, politics, mysteries, and eccentricities of every kind, along with poetry, short stories, and drawings. We seek to present all that is odd and enlightening, informative and unconventional. Our goal: innovative, eccentric intellectualism. Our motto: omnia mutantur nihil interit. ‘All things are changed, nothing is lost’."

It has published three issues as of the winter of 2007 and publishes once a quarter while the university is in session. Article topics have included Gauloise cigarettes, the Pulaski Skyway, Micronations, and a fictional debate between Walt Whitman and John D. Rockefeller. The faculty advisor of the magazine is Malynne Sternstein, a Professor in the Department of Slavic Languages in Literature[1]. It has been positively reviewed in the independant student newspaper, The Chicago Maroon[2].

Its headquarters is located in Hyde Park, Chicago at The Mallard.
