[edit] "Highest outside Himalaya"

I corrected the claim that Gongga is the "highest out of the Himalaya", which is close to true, but not quite. First, the Himalaya don't actually include the Karakoram (except in very loose, nontechnical usage), so I put "Himalaya/Karakoram" instead. Also, Kongur Tagh and Tirich Mir are higher than Gongga. --Spireguy 03:13, 3 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] German books

I moved the German books to "Further reading" since they didn't appear to be used as actual sources. (I wrote most of the current text, and it is from the sources listed in "References".) If I'm missing something, please respond. It's also unclear how useful these books are for the English version of Wikipedia, but I won't delete them. -- Spireguy 02:27, 5 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Highest by Americans

I'd like to see a reference for the claim that Americans achieved a higher summit than Gongga Shan before 1958. Which one(s)? -- Spireguy 15:10, 7 November 2006 (UTC)

I doublechecked with the Himalayan Index and I don't believe the claim at all. So I'm reverting to the previous version. -- Spireguy 16:53, 7 November 2006 (UTC)
