Gongsun Yue
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gongsun Yue (公孫越; d. 191), a figure during the Three Kingdoms period of Chinese history, was the younger half-brother of Gongsun Zan. When Gongsun Zan and Yuan Shu allied together, Gongsun Zan sent him to aid Yuan Shu, who was under attack from his own half-brother, Yuan Shao. Gongsun Yue was ordered by Yuan Shu to help Sun Jian retake Yangcheng (陽城) from Zhou Ang (周昂), but he was killed by a stray arrow during the attack. Gongsun Zan blamed Yuan Shao for Gongsun Yue's death, and attacked Yuan Shao at the Battle of Jieqiao.
In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, he was sent as a messenger to demand that Yuan Shao split Jizhou (冀州) with Gongsun Zan, but was killed on his way home by Yuan Shao's army pretending to be Dong Zhuo's men.
