Why were goldfish named goldfish if the original snack was white?

The name of the person who holds the record for eating the most goldfish is mentioned--how about the number of goldfish eaten?

Because of the rampant vandalism of this article, I removed "Dan Young, of Scoharie, NY, who loves Goldfish Snack Crackers, holds the world record for most goldfish eaten (7,983) in one serving" until it is verified, since the article once read "Micheal Raisman, of Warminster Pa., holds the world record for most goldfish eaten." -- VGF11 00:34, 24 October 2006 (UTC)

- I definitely remember a time when they didn't have smiles -- in the mid-nineties they were added, maybe '96 or '97. I haven't really been able to find any proof, but I know I'm not crazy! Ethan 02:44, 12 February 2007 (UTC)

Every other article has pictures. I know pictures of Goldfish are easy to find. http://images.google.com.
