[edit] Importance scale
Why should the Golden-shouldered Parrot, which is highly endangered and living in an extremely restricted habitat, be classified as being of only "low importance" within an encyclopedia? Surely an effort should be made to bring people's attention to the plight of these very beautiful birds which are being illegally smuggled outside Australia, and to which man is to blame for the limitation of their habitat. - This is just a default tag for all species-level bird articles; species articles get tagged as "Low" importance initially as a SOP and reviewed later. I agree with your point; you might change it or discuss the matter first on the Project page. Thae aim of the tagging SOP is IIRC to get the taxonomic structure done from top-down; that in some cases species articles are more important than "Low" is a given.
