Goler clan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Golers are a clan comprised of impoverished and inbred people on Nova Scotia's South Mountain, who tortured and abused their children generation after generation. The clan was ignored or shunned by people in the neighboring towns for over two hundred years. They lived with little schooling, rampant unemployment, unsanitary living conditions, and isolation.
In 1984, the neighboring communities acted. A thirteen-year-old girl broke down to reveal the scandal. Sixteen adults, men and women, were charged with hundreds of allegations of incest and sexual abuse of children as young as five.
