The Golden Highway is an Ontario Tourist Route that travels through Northern Ontario and Quebec's Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, from Timmins, Ontario to Val d'Or, Quebec.

The route starts in Timmins along Kings Highway 101, and heads east, to Highway 11 in Matheson, Ontario. It curves south on to Highway 66 at Kirkland Lake, Ontario, before heading due-east towards the Quebec boundary.

The Highway continues as Quebec Route 117 through the city of Rouyn-Noranda, before terminating in Val d'Or.

The tourist route also has a branch leading back to Matachewan, Ontario, thus following Highway 66 for its entire length.

The route is named for all the gold mining that occurs in the area, and for apocryphal rumours that gold was accidentally crushed, ground, and mixed into the gravel during the pavement of Highway 66. This is just speculation and urban legend at best, however.
