Goldbach's comet

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Goldbach's comet is the prosaic name given to a plot of the function g(n), the so-called Goldbach function. The Goldbach function is studied in relation to Goldbach's conjecture. The function g(n) is defined for all integers n \geq 2 to be the number of different ways in which 2n can be expressed as the sum of two primes. For example, g(11) = 3 since 22 can be expressed as the sum of two primes in three different ways (22 = 11 + 11, 5 + 17 and 3 + 19).
