Goito is a comune of Lombardy, Italy, in the Province of Mantua, from which it is 11 miles NW, on the road to Brescia. It is situated on the right bank of the Mincio River near the bridge. Its position has given it a certain military importance in various campaigns and it has been repeatedly fortified as a bridge-head. The Piedmontese forces won two actions (8 April and 30 May 1848) over the Austrians here.
