Goi Station

Goi station (五井駅 Goi-eki?) is a train station on the Uchibō and Kominato lines, operated by the East Japan Railway Company and Kominato Railway. It is located in Ichihara, Chiba.

The station has a different address for each company. The address for JR East is 2-1-11 Goi-Chūō-Nishi, Ichihara, Chiba, and the address for the Kominato Railway is 1-1-2 Goi-Chūō-Higashi, Ichihara, Chiba. The station has 4 tracks with two island platforms, one for the Uchibō line and another for the Kominato line.

In 2005, there were approximately 20,307 passengers per day using JR East trains and 1,810 passengers per day using Kominato Railway trains at Goi station.

  • Mar 1, 1912 - opened as a station on the Bōsō Railway (present day Sotobō Line)
  • Mar 28, 1912 - Kisarazu line is opened.
  • May 24, 1919 - Kisarazu Line renamed Hōjō line.
  • Mar 7, 1925 - Kominato Railway opened.
  • Apr 15, 1929 - Hōjō line renamed Bōsō line.
  • Apr 1, 1933 - Bōsō line from Soga to Awa-Kamogawa is renamed Bōsō West Line.
  • Jul 15, 1972 - Bōsō West Line renamed Uchibō Line.
  • Apr 1, 1987 - acquired by East Japan Railway Company following the division and privatization of JNR.
