Gohil
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Gohil or Gohel is the name of a dynasty that ruled certain princely states in western India, including Rajpipla and Bhavnagar in the present-day state of Gujarat. They claim descent from the ruling family of Mewar in present-day Rajasthan and are a branch of the Sisodia clan of rajputs.
Although today they have no official power, the family is still highly respected in Bhavnagar where their formal palace has been transformed into a star hotel.
