Gohar Mumtaz

Gohar Mumtaz (Urdu: گوہر ممتاز) is a Pakistani musician and the founder of Jal. Gohar was born on July 27, 1981 in Faisalabad and lived most of his life in Faisalabad. He broke his leg in Faisalabad during his FSc and was bed-ridden for 6 months, and in this period he composed several songs. His feelings can be easily witnessed through these words "Woh Yaadain Bun Ke Beh Gayin Jo Tere Mun Mein Thi To Tera Chehra Kiyun Yaad Aaye Teri Chaah Mujhe Kiyun Sataaye Woh Jo Chehra Hai Dil Ko Bhaye Kiyun Na Dil Se Dil Ko Milai".
Moving to Lahore, he made up his mind to form a band, he joined with Atif Aslam as a fellow band-mate, but due to differences between the two, have now split. Atif was replaced by Farhan Saeed. Jal's music has become popular in the South Asian subcontinent and the band has toured America, India and Bangladesh.
