Goh Soon Tioe is a famous Singaporean musician and music educator. He has helped Singapore to develop an excellent environment for the Singaporean to study music.

He has taught many violin student, who include Lynnette Seah, one of the best Singaporean violinist of our time. Most of his student became professional musicians later. His most famous was Lee Pan Hon.

There is a memorable picture taken of him in 1958, playing the violin to a street crowd in a slum area of Chinatown. He was only 5 then. He was dressed only in a pair of shorts. He was so poor that his family could not afford to buy him shoes. Goh Soon Tioe nurtured the boy until Lee became a concertmaster and violin soloist in the United Kingdom.

Mr. Goh is now dead. His dedication to Singapore is recognized and respected.
