Copyrighted

This work is copyrighted and unlicensed. It does not fall into one of the blanket fair use categories listed at Wikipedia:Fair use#Images or Wikipedia:Fair use#Audio_clips. However, it is believed that the use of this work in the article "Joseph Goebbels":

  • To illustrate the object in question
  • Where no free equivalent is available or could be created that would adequately give the same information
  • On the English-language Wikipedia ([1]), hosted on servers in the United States by the non-profit Wikimedia Foundation ([2]),

qualifies as fair use under United States copyright law. Any other uses of this image, on Wikipedia or elsewhere, may be copyright infringement. See Wikipedia:Fair use and Wikipedia:Copyrights.

To the uploader: this tag is not a sufficient claim of fair use. You must also include the source of the work, all available copyright information, and a detailed fair use rationale.

This photo was taken in 1945 by officials of the Soviet Union.

[edit] Fair use rationale

  1. Purpose and character of the use: To illustrate the article Joseph Goebbels. Obviously Goebbels's corpse no longer exists and cannot be photographed again.
  2. Nature of the copyrighted work: Photo of the corpse of Joseph Goebbels. Photo previously published in Vinogradov, V. K. et al.: Hitler's Death: Russia's Last Great Secret from the Files of the KGB, Chaucer Press, 2005; ISBN 1-904-44913-1. That book is a translation of the Russian original, published by Zvonnitsa Publishing House in 2000. I assume the photo was published in the Russian edition. The ultimate source of the photo is the KGB archives.
  3. Amount used: The image is reproduced in full, but the quality is poor.
  4. Effect of the use on the potential market or value of the image: None.
