Goetia was planned to be the first album release by British black metal band Cradle of Filth on UK metal label Tombstone Records. Due to insufficient funding however, the studio tapes were wiped and the album went unreleased.
Very little is known about this recording. Dani Filth and then-band members speak very little of the tracks and concept of Goetia, though it is briefly mentioned in a retrospective of the band, written by Damien Gregori featured in the CD booklet of Lovecraft & Witch Hearts.

[edit] Backstory
Cradle of Filth's previous demo releases helped them land their first contract with a low-budget record label, Tombstone Records. It is unclear just how long the recording process was, but what is known is that the tapes were completed. However by this point Tombstone's studio producers could not finance the finalized session recordings, so the tapes had to be wiped. A year later the band's following demo release, Total Fucking Darkness (which is widely speculated as a promo release of Goetia), gained the band a contract with extreme-metal label, Cacophonous Records.
[edit] Possible track listing
Though no concrete track listing has been verified, there are few different sources that hint possible inclusions to the recording.
A concert in a Manchester pub in 1992, possibly promoting Goetia, featured this setlist:
- "To Eve the Art of Witchcraft"
- "Unbridled at Dusk"
- "Of Mist and Midnight Skies"
- "The Principle of Evil Made Flesh"
- "The Black Goddess Rises"
- "As Deep as any Burial"
It is also speculated that the demo Total Fucking Darkness is a promo recording for Goetia. Additional possibly featured tracks are:
- "The Raping of Faith"
- "Fraternally Yours, 666"
[edit] Confirmed inclusions
The only track that has been confirmed to have been included on Goetia is "Spattered in Faeces". This was confirmed by Dani.
