[edit] Graduands

thanks teach, it wasn't boring at all. I did look it up in a dictionary but couldn't find it there and therefore changed it in the article. I think it's an obscure term, maybe? --Timdew 17:15, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Season

Did you see the links in your e-mail inbox? —JD[don't talk|email] 19:41, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

I'm just emailin you back. Read the second paragraph of the first link you sent me. godgoddingham333 19:43, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

I know some of them say series, but the point I was trying to make is that they use the word season as well. —JD[don't talk|email] 19:44, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

And the first paragraph of the second link. godgoddingham333 19:45, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Pointing out every time the pages say series doesn't help. It's the fact that they use the word season as well, and more the fact that the word seasons makes more clear that it is plural than the word series. —JD[don't talk|email] 19:49, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Series is plural as well. Anyway, it is common knowledge that "series" is more widely known and used in Commonwealth countries' English, and season in America. godgoddingham333 19:58, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Australia doesn't use Commonwealth English, it uses Australian English. And I just sent you an e-mail that hopefully will end this. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Australian English is Commonwealth English. Right off the Commonwealth English page:
"Commonwealth English is a recently-coined collective term for a collection of dialects of the English language mostly based on British English used in the Commonwealth of Nations and many ex-Commonwealth countries where English is at least a common second language. These include: Australian English, British English, Caribbean English, Canadian English (but see below), Hiberno-English (Irish English), Hong Kong English, Indian English (and the English spoken in adjoining countries), formal Malaysian English, New Zealand English, formal Singapore English (but not colloquial Singlish), and South African English.
And in response to your email, have you seen the amount of times the official site uses the word series? Oh, and BTW, you're about to break the 3RR godgoddingham333 20:06, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

How many times something uses one word over another isn't the point of this. The fact that something uses that word at all is the point; and the official website uses that particular word more than once, and has done in other seasons also. If the website never used the word season, I would see the point in changing it on Wikipedia, but it does use the word; it even refers to Big Brother 6 UK as a season, not a series. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:09, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, like I said, they do use both, but my point is that "series" is used more, and naming conventions state series over season. Wikiproject BB even says:
Articles about a Big Brother series are named Big Brother (country series number); with exception to Big Brother America articles, which should be named Big Brother (USA season number)." showing that only BBUSA articles should use season... godgoddingham333 20:14, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

You do realise I wrote that, don't you..? —JD[don't talk|email] 20:18, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Exactly; you're kinda being hypocritical then, don't you think? godgoddingham333 20:21, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

I didn't originally decide on that, and if and when there was a vote or something to decide on the names of articles, I wasn't even involved - I probably wasn't even on Wikipedia then. That applies to article names, which you've seen I've tried to change twice; not to article references. There's no reason to change it; changing it doesn't improve it. There's decent reasons for having it stay both ways, but there's nothing mind-blowing that would suggest that it must be changed, or that changing it has a major dramatic benefit. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:24, 3 August 2006 (UTC) "I know it's not gonna make a huge difference, but I'm just tying it in with the rest of the article and other articles and Wikiproject BB and Wikipeida's naming conventions... godgoddingham333 20:28, 3 August 2006 (UTC) Well apart from it being unnecessary, it'd take a lot of time to change every instance of season to series, and rewrite articles where necessary so that it doesn't look odd. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:32, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Well I'll do it then... There aren't that many instances of season... godgoddingham333 20:37, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Why don't you just, not? It would be much better. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:34, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Why not? Why would it be "much better"?

Because there is seriously no need. I mean, even the Big Brother website uses the word season. It's hardly a major biggie that must be changed, otherwise it violates policy. If it's that major, you should get onto ESS about it. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:39, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I'm not very Wikitechy, what's ESS? godgoddingham333 20:41, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

It's not Wiki. It's Endemol Southern Star - they aint called Endemol everywhere. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:42, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeh, all right. Calm down. I didn't know did I? And I never said that they were just called Endemol. I'll do that then... godgoddingham333 20:48, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

...Seriously? —JD[don't talk|email] 20:49, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeh. Why not? godgoddingham333 20:51, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Because it seriously is no big deal! The word season is used a few times. If the people that run the show are using the word season, that should show that it isn't that big a deal, and the use of the word season does not matter. —JD[don't talk|email] 20:52, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

Well, I've emailed them, so I'll wait for a reply and then forward it to you. godgoddingham333 21:00, 3 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] BB US

Oh, in the United States we play differently than in the UK. All the nominating is done by one person, the Head of Household. The voting that is actually done by all of the houseguests is for eviction. The reason being is that after season 1, the U.S. had their public voting rights revoked due to the fact that we made awful decisions for evictions. FireSpike 21:44, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeah. I miss the days where I could vote, but we just voted off anyone that was remotely entertaining. FireSpike 21:49, 7 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re. Jennie's surname

Why have I changed it? It's quoted as Conner here:1, here: 2, here: 3, here: 4, here: 5, and here: 6 Need I go on? Her surname's Conner! But it I get your point it is ambiguous :) --Alex9891 22:43, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

Yes, definitely Corner! And would you believe it, her middle name's Marion! --Alex9891 22:45, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
Yes OK! I've changed them back. And according to Ancestry.co.uk she's a Corner! --Alex9891 22:52, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
No I was wrong. But so are lots of web sites. --Alex9891 22:54, 13 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Marking good faith edits as vandalism

Please don't mark edits made in good faith as vandaism, as you did here. Instead, give a valid reason for your revert, and if you feel it is necessary, discuss your revert on the article's talk page, or on the talk page of the person who made the original edit. Thank you. talk to JD wants e-mail 15:47, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

It wasn't good faith. They were clearly in alphabetical order, and the anonymous editor put them in a random order! godgoddingham 333 20:07, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
P.S. You're doin that thing...

It may not have been clear to the IP at the time that the list was in alphabetical order; I didn't notice that. It's actually quite possible that the IP was intentionally reordering them, looking at the fact that they moved the UK and Australia to the top of the list. Anyway, unless this IP has made such edits in the past and is doing them only to be a nuisance, it's not a good idea to label edits as vandalism, and I don't see how this edit could be classed as such based on WP:VAND. talk to JD wants e-mail 20:16, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

Well why order them with Australia and UK at the top anyway? And it wasn't just those two which changed! What kind of an order is that? godgoddingham 333 20:18, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

An order where Australia and the UK are more superior to other countries? Countries that have shown more of One Tree Hill maybe? Meh, doesn't really matter, just try not to say that a person's edits are vandalism unless you know for a fact that they are. talk to JD wants e-mail 20:26, 28 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] One Tree Hill edits

Your use of excessive punctuation implies yelling; please calm down. You asked for confirmation that America Plus existed, not that One Tree Hill was played on it in Pakistan, which I provided. I didn't add the information, and there are not references provided for every single international channel which is listed there. If you would like to ask for them, then that is your prerogative. As for the episode listings, what I meant was, it's silly to have two numbers in the infobox, whether it's 66 or 67, and to argue which one it should be; just pick one and stick with it. I don't care one way or the other. If it says 67, and it bothers one, then it's just as well to pretend it's including the upcoming episode. -Shannernanner 19:17, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Infobox Television

What do you mean new and old? Why would we need to list an old website if its dead? thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 16:57, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

What do you mean? If the original channels website is still active and it still shows episode, then isnt that still the offical website? thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 17:02, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Then just list its present offical website and its old website in external links, the ifbx doesnt need to be clutered with links (already has 3) thanks/Fenton, Matthew Lexic Dark 52278 Alpha 771 17:11, 10 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Big Brother (UK series 7)

Hey there. I'm leaving you this message as you were a part of making the article Big Brother (UK series 7) and I've had the crazy idea of trying to get it to featured status, or at least a good article. I've made a peer review page, and comments there for improving would be greatly appreciated. Also, if you see I have left anyone out could you message them as well? Thanks. --Alex (Talk) 11:30, 1 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject Big Brother

Hi, Godgoddingham333. According to this page, you are a member of the Big Brother WikiProject. It would appear, perhaps because Big Brother isn't airing in Australia, the United Kingdom, or the United States at the moment, that activity on Big Brother-related articles has died down quite a bit. Between seasons is a good time to be editing Big Brother-related articles as this is probably the only time where Wikipedians can focus on the articles that seem to have been forgotten about without too many Big Brother-related distractions. There are a few articles just waiting to be worked on, and proposed article changes on the Project talk page that have received little feedback. Nobody is forced to do anything as a Project member, but please try to edit whatever Big Brother articles you can and help with the WikiProject's aim - to make the Big Brother articles the best that they can be! Thanks. jd || talk || 20:55, 3 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] One Tree Hill

Hello, Please stop removing the images from the page One Tree Hill (TV series) - I'm sure you can appreciate that it takes a lot of time and effort to upload these images and having to constantly re-upload them every time they are removed is quite tedious. If you wish to leave me a message, please do not hesitate to do so on my talk page. Thanks a lot, Niall Feighney :-)

Hi. The first thing I'll say about One Tree Hill (TV series) is that I would never do anything like that on Wikipedia. I can't find a single image there where we are actually discussing that image. There's no discussion about the shot, no discussion about the appearance of the character, no reason whatsoever that we need these images for the reader to make sense of the article. The huge DVD boxes images are particularly weird. We could easily take every image out of that article and the reader would understand it just as well. The only difference would be that it would be less visually appealing, and, "our article would be bland without this", which seems to be the point here, fails Wikipedia:Fair use. If Image:Lucas Scott.jpg is any example, there are even more problems -- we don't have a real source, and we're not crediting the copyright holder. The only thing correct is the resolution of the image. I'll note that articles about television programs in general tend to be amongst the worst offenders when it comes to making spurious fair use claims. I suggest that it might be a good idea to start a centralised discussion at Wikipedia:WikiProject Television about trying to come up with sensible guidelines that actually take WP:FUC into account. "No unfree images in gallery or table format" would be a good rule of thumb... Jkelly 21:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
