Godhead is an industrial rock band that originated in the Washington D.C.-area in the 1990s. They are known as the first and only band signed on to Marilyn Manson's short-lived vanity label, Posthuman, in 2001. It produced their breakout album, 2000 Years of Human Error, that earned them recognition by Ozzy Osbourne and landed them a spot on Ozzfest in the same year on the second stage. Ever since their breakout album, the band has steadily developed a stronger fan base.

Their music is characterised as a mixture of dramatic goth rock and appealing dance beats with an atmospheric, industrial soundscape. It is further enhanced by the clean, terrifyingly deep vocal talents of lead vocalist/guitarist Jason C Miller and his morbidly gothic lyrical content. On their MySpace.com [1] webpage, the band credits David Bowie, the Cure, Depeche Mode, Pink Floyd, Ozzy Osbourne, and Nine Inch Nails as their influences.

Following the release of The Shadow Line, Godhead went out on the Congress of Corruption Tour with labelmates Ra, and ill Nino, as well as special guests The Dreaming. Following this domestic tour, Godhead headed overseas to support SOiL.

[edit] Trivia

  • Godhead used to practice in the Miller Family Barn in Nokesville, VA.
  • Jason C Miller and Mike Miller are not related.
  • Method adopted his name from a side project he started of the same name before joining Godhead.
  • Their self-titled album is now out of print.
  • Marilyn Manson, Twiggy Ramirez, and Scott Putesky (formerly known as Daisy Berkowitz of Marilyn Manson) all helped contribute to 2000 Years of Human Error.
  • James O'Connor left the band before the making of Evolver. He was replaced by Tom Z. Tom Z, in turn, was replaced by Ken Jay. In 2005, Jason C Miller asked James O'Connor to return as the band's drummer. He then left the band again in 2006 after the completion of The Shadow Line and was replaced by Glendon Crain.
  • The band was originally named Blind, but performed their first show as Godhead in April 1994 in Fairfax, VA. with the band Mentally Deranged opening for them. Mentally Deranged lead singer Evilboy went on to sing for Drivelink, and arranged a very special stage show for Godhead in 1999.
  • Wayne Static (of Static-X) and Reeves Gabrels (Bowie, The Cure) both contributed to Evolver.
  • Godhead has toured on their own, as well as with Ozzfest, Marilyn Manson, Disturbed, Rammstein, Mudvayne, Orgy, and Static-X. They are renowned for their live performances.
  • Their next album, The Shadow Line, was released on August 29th, 2006. The album was produced by the band, Ben Moody and Julian Beeston (producer for Billy Idol and Nitzer Ebb). The album is being mixed by Jay Baumgardner (credits include Evanescence, Seether, and Orgy).
  • The Album "Non Stop Ride" is not actually a godhead studio album, but a cover, remix and DJ-style megamix created in large part by Julian Beeston and merely featuring various performances by individual members of godhead.
