"God Am" is a song by the Grunge band Alice in Chains off of their third album of the same name.
Jerry Cantrell has said "Had we toured for Tripod, it probably would have been released as a single."
The song is quite controversial, opening up with the sound of a bong being used, followed by a Jeff Spicoli-style stoner declaring 'Sure, God's all-powerful, but does He have lips? Whoa!' The song questions the existence of God, pointing out death and destruction and God seemingly doing nothing about it. This has led many people in the AIC fan community to believe that Staley may have been an atheist.
The song was played only once with Staley, in early July of 1996 while they were opening up for a reunited Kiss. That performance of the song was released in the 2000 release of Live.
