[edit] History

The airline was established in June 2004. On 9 June 2005 GoAir announced that it intended to launch operations in October 2005 with a fleet of 20 leased Airbus A320 aircraft. Initial flights would be in the southern and western areas of India with the first nine A320s, the remaining 11 aircraft being added in the second year. At the time the airline was in discussion with both Airbus and Boeing on the purchase of between 20 and 40 new aircraft, with a contract to be in place by the end of 2005 and with deliveries to start by 2007. An order for 10 aircraft from the Airbus A320 family (with options for 10 more) was announced in July 2006. [1] GoAir announced in mid-January 2007 that it plans to sell a large minority ownership position to assist it with funds for continued expansion as well as to improve chances for the sale and leaseback of additional A320 aircraft.

GoAir and airline reservations system provider Radixx International of Orlando, Florida [2] on January 24, 2007, jointly announced that Radixx had taken over all reservations and passenger management functions from GoAir's previous vendor. It is the first time that a non-Indian technology company is providing a critical operational function as a third-party provider to an Indian airline.
