[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:PopeJohnPaulII.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:PopeJohnPaulII.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}. If you have not already done so, please also include the source of the image. In many cases this will be the website where you found it.

Please specify the copyright information and source on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fritz Saalfeld (Talk) 13:53, 24 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] San Francisco mayoral election, 2007

... is the correct title according to Wikipedia's naming conventions on election articles; please refrain from reverting my move. —Nightstallion (?) 10:43, 13 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your RfA

Hi. I applaud your enthusiasm, but your RfA has no chance of success and I strongly urge you to withdraw. Doing so will help your chances in any future RfA. Take a look at the oppose !votes, visit a few other RfAs and see what people look for in candidates, and come back fresh in a few months. Oh, and drop me a line on my talk page when you do (though I don't guarantee to support). --Dweller 09:55, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

I regret to say that I have closed your RfA early as per WP:SNOW. I have included a summary of the opinions cast in my reason for doing so, which was essentially 'get some more experience before trying again'. You have been very brave in putting yourself in the spotlight here after so short a time of editing WP. Most people wait between six-to-twelve months before trying for an RfA and they are not alway successful either. Strategies for improving your profile for another RfA include:
  1. contributing effectively to articles. This includes finding references and citations for facts in reliable sources, something that is essential for an encyclopedia.
  2. Working on the Good Article Drive, Good Article Collaboration of the week and the Article Creation and Improvement Drive.
  3. Patrolling the New pages and Recent changes special pages for vandalism; tagging the pages according to the criteria for speedy deletion and warning the vandals.
  4. Reporting repeat vandals for admin intervention.
  5. Joining a Wikiproject or finding a portal on a subject in which you are interested and contributing through that.
  6. Assisting at the Help and Reference desks.
  7. Welcoming new users.
  8. Becoming adopted or, when you are more experienced, adopting new users to assist them in learning about Wikipedia.

These are just some of the ideas for making effective contributions to the project. You can also see Wikipedia:Contributing to Wikipedia for more ideas. Regards and good editing, (aeropagitica) 15:32, 17 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Treaty page in mainspace

Please stop recreating a redirect in mainspace to your user subpage at User:Gndawydiak/Treaty for Gndawydiak and Nightstallion; article space is not for user disputes, and while I applaud your efforts to work to a resolution between you and Nightstallion, putting a link to it in mainspace is asking for the "personal business" between the two of you to become public to anyone reading Wikipedia (through the Search function or Random page function, for example). -- nae'blis 00:16, 18 January 2007 (UTC) 00:02, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

Also, were you trying to change your username to User:ManofSF by moving your userpage there? That's not exactly how it works, try visiting Wikipedia:Changing usernames. -- nae'blis 00:21, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

You have to stop trying to move your userpage to a nonexistent user's address. If someone were to log on under that name, they could be confused for you. As it is, you are obscuring your own record and confusing issues. If you would like to change your user name, please visit Wikipedia:Changing usernames. There's a difference between the two actions. -- nae'blis 07:49, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Treaty

I would be happy to mediate with conflicts that you might have. However, in the case regarding San Francisco mayoral election, 2007, I would suggest that you put the title dispute behind you and move on. You are not blocked from editing the article and the current title capitalization scheme is correct. Should it be moved, seek out another administrator to fix it. Don't seek out User:Nightstallion anymore - cancel the request for mediation and, while the Treaty is admirable, it's not necessary. Focus your energies on putting together some great articles on San Francisco and building the WikiProject.--DaveOinSF 02:18, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

It's unblocked now, and I realise I should have tried explaining a bit more before move-locking it; however, Gndawydiak's first reaction didn't seem as if he was likely to listen to explanations. Either way, sorry. —Nightstallion (?) 14:50, 18 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for Mediation

A Request for Mediation to which you are a party was not accepted and has been delisted. You can find more information on the mediation subpage, Wikipedia:Requests for mediation/San Francisco Mayoral Election, 2007.

[edit] High school rivalry

There is a major difference between mentioning a rivalry on a page about a high school and having an entire article devoted to the rivalry. Higher standard for the latter. And btw, please don't threaten an edit war. It's counter productive. If you'd rather have me change the tag to an article for deletion tag I will. I have no problem with that. But I think the page should be deleted and I'm not going to change my opinion on that. Btw, I see that you have aspirations to be an admin. If that's the case, then I would suggest never saying what you said on my talk page. It's a major red flag. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 05:56, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

Btw, I did switch it to AfD to get more input. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 06:08, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
Because high school rivalries are by definition local. I don't know of a single nationally known high school rivalry. I just don't think that this would pass notability tests. If it was something so well known that ESPN would report on it or maybe a major regional sports network, then I would say yes, keep it. --WoohookittyWoohoo! 06:33, 20 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] ND Fan

I see that you are fan of the Irish- good for you! I'm an SF native and ND alum back in the Bay Area. Good Luck to you. --Kevin Murray 00:36, 21 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop.

Some of your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/St. Ignatius-Sacred Heart rivalry have severely "crossed the line" and are unacceptable under Wikipedia policy, to the point that commenters there have proposed banning your from Wikipedia entirely. I hope it doesn't come to that, but you definitely need to take a step back and evaluate whether you are contributing within both policy and the spirit of the community. In particular, I urge you to read WP:NPA, WP:CIVIL, and WP:OWN, as understanding them is vital to being a functioning member of our community. Andrew Lenahan - Starblind 15:31, 22 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] WikiProject San Francisco merger propopsal

Hi –

I remember that you were the one that created WikiProject San Francisco and sent out invitation for others to join. However, I haven't seen you give an opinion one way or the other on the proposal to merge WikiProject San Francisco into WikiProject San Francisco Bay Area. There seems to be pretty strong consensus to do this, at least among the few people who have contributed to the discussion so far. I'd like to get your opinion, however, before going ahead with it. Poll is at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject San Francisco Bay Area. Peter G Werner 19:04, 8 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:JosephAlioto.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:JosephAlioto.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Jumpaclass

This is an invitation to use WP:BAY's Jumpaclass option for improving articles. If you're working on any Bay Area-related stub, start, or B-class articles, simply add their names to the list, and if any of the articles improve a class within a week, you'll be recognized for your contributions. Thanks for reading! — Emiellaiendiay 21:28, 22 February 2007 (UTC)
