Glycerin is a by-product created during the soap making process. Usually the glycerin remains combined with the soap, but it's possible to extract it. Because glycerin has many uses (for instance it is widely used in skin-care products), it is more profitable for mass producers of soap to extract it from the soap for use in some other product, than to leave it in the soap-bars.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 218.101.64.26 (talk • contribs).
