Glulam Beam
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Glulam Beams are APA EWS stress-rated engineered wood products comprised of wood laminations, or "lams," bonded together with strong, waterproof adhesives used for support structures and esthetic purposes.
The way the Glulam is structured makes it stronger than comparable dimensional lumber and pound for pound stronger than steel. Glulams can span long distances with minimal need for intermediate supports and display minimal shrinkage and warping, giving builders unlimited design flexibility.
Glulams have a classic, natural wood appearance giving any structure warmth and beauty. Glulams have been used in restaurants, schools, commercial buildings, bridges, custom homes, and churches. They are also seen in Disney's ice rink and the outdoor giant R.E.I.
