Global Heritage Fund
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Global Heritage Fund (GHF) is a non-profit organization that operates internationally to protect and preserve important cultural heritage sites in developing countries. A Global Heritage Site is one of the archaeological sites and ancient townscapes selected by the GHF Advisory Board..[1]
Based in California, United States, Global Heritage Fund representatives state that its "goal is to invest $20 million over the next ten years into 40 Global Heritage sites threatened by neglect, destruction, mass tourism, and urban sprawl."[2]
Currently, three Global Heritage sites overlap with UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Hampi ruins in India, Mỹ Sơn temple in Vietnam and the old town of Lijiang City in People's Republic of China.
