From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Glenmont is a hamlet located in Albany County, New York in the USA. Glenmont is in the Town of Bethlehem and can be considered a suburb of Albany, New York. It has mostly 2-story houses and above average income families. It is also the location of several new and controversial shopping centers, which include businesses such as Wal-Mart, Lowes Home Improvement Center, Applebee's, and Wendy's. Future additions in a new shopping center adjacent to Lowes on Route 9W include PetSmart, Panera Bread and Staples. Many people opposed the building of these businesses, preferring Glenmont to remain a small, peaceful, suburban area. Others encouraged them, wanting to bring more revenue to the town of Bethlehem.
