[edit] History of Glendowie

The area is named after the farm estate of one of the Taylor Brothers. Three of them had farms in this area and built houses; Charles John Taylor at Glen Orchard (now St Heliers), William Innes Taylor at Glen Innes, & Richard James Taylor at Glen Dowie. Their brother Allen Kerr Taylor lived over in Mt Albert in a house called Alberton.
