[edit] Tourism

  • Glen Rose is famous for is abundance of Dinosaur footprints and for the claims of locals over the past century that they have found human footprints among the dinosaur prints. Serious investigation began in the middle of last century when several people found and documented footprints of distinct human feature. In the 1980's newspaper reporters photographed distinctly human footprints that were freshly uncovered. Needless to say this created a sensation in evolutionary ranks and concerted effort has prevailed ever since to challenge these findings. The Creation Evidence Museum, founded by young earth creationist Carl Baugh documents much of the findings.
  • Dinosaur Valley State Park, which features several dinosaur footprints within the bed of the Paluxy River, is located outside of Glen Rose. When the footprints were freshly uncovered locals identified several as distinctly human. Weathering quickly erases features of the prints and so the "human" prints are disregarded as just natural weathering features.
  • The Texas State Amphitheater features a summer musical, The Promise, a portrayal on the life of Jesus Christ.
  • The Comanche Peak nuclear power plant is located north of town.
  • Fossil Rim Wildlife Center is an 1800 acre wildlife preserve, open to the public. It features many different species of animals, including emus, giraffes, zebras, wolves, and many others.
  • Don't miss the historic downtown square with shops such as Earthly Possessions, an old fashioned mercantile and sundries store.
