[edit] Background

Glen Lantz is a student at Springwood High who is going out with Nancy Thompson. Both Nancy and her friend Tina have been having weird dreams about a creepy man with knives for fingers. Glen does not seem to be affected by these dreams because he knows that they aren't real and people tend to dream of something better later on.

After Nancy comes to the realisation that Freddy Krueger only exists in dreams, she asks Glen to stay awake and act as a guard, so that if she starts acting strange, Glen can wake her up in time to save her. However, during one such encounter with Freddy, Glen falls asleep. Luckily for Nancy, she awakens from her nightmare. But she is mad at Glen for not following her instructions.

One night, Nancy is locked inside her house by her drunken mother, who also placed bars on the windows to prevent Nancy from running away. Glen falls aleep in his bedroom because he is exhausted. His father left the phone off the receiver, so no one can call through. He didn't want Glen to be assosiated with Nancy because he thinks she is a bad influence.

Glen is sucked into his bed and squashed. Then what's left of him is shot up to the ceiling in a gruesome display of blood and guts. At the end of the movie, Nancy gets her friends and mother back, but she doesn't really get them back at all. The happy ending is actually not really happening. Freddy then returns to take over the body of Jesse Walsh.
