Glen Eyre Halls

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Glen Eyre is a hall of residence of the University of Southampton

Glen Eyre is one of the largest halls of residence for the students of the University of Southampton. With around 2000 students in the entire complex (including K, L and M blocks), of which 1100 are housed in Glen Eyre Hall, it contains facilities such as a bar, take-away, shop, laundry, gym, squash court and computer room.

Glen Eyre is only 10 minutes away from Highfield campus, has easy access from the M3, and is served regularly by the Unilink buses. Glen Eyre is set out rather like a village with small houses around a pond, which is very different to other halls like South Hill and Montefiore.

The K, L and M Blocks are now renamed after the 2005/2006 makeover and now known as Chancellor Courts.

J-Block is home to the only catered students in the main Glen Eyre complex. There are four floors with 24 room on each. The block is mixed gender, with post-graduates on the top floor. Residents travel to Chamberlain for meals, where they can have two a day (breakfast and then a choice of lunch or dinner).

SURGE radio station, formerly located at the Glen Eyre complex, is no longer housed in Glen Eyre. It moved in 2005 to the Students' Union building on Highfield Campus.
