The suburb started simply as a golf estate with houses constructed mainly inside the looping design of the 18 hole course. This development included the creation of a local shopping and tennis complex 500 metres from the Clubhouse of the golf course. In the past few years the estate has expanded into the area between the Par 3 6th hole and Menangle Rd, creating a housing development are consisting of over 50 new single and double storey houses in the original detached style of Glen Alpine. Notable residents of the suburb include former Australian Labor Party leader Mark Latham.
