Gleek (Super Friends)

Gleek is a fictional blue monkey, the pet of Zan and Jayna, the Wonder Twins in the animated series Super Friends.

Gleek was often used as comic relief for the series, as he often got into mischief. A joke involving Gleek would often end episodes of the Super Friends in which he appeared.. However, many viewers found his antics annoying and felt he detracted from the series.

Gleek had a stretchable, prehensile tail which could be quite useful. Gleek was also highly intelligent, as he clearly understood spoken English, even somewhat complicated concepts such as the various stages of simple strategic planning. He communicated through the use of sign language, acting out scenes, and chattering in a unintelligible alien tongue.

In the DC Comics comic book version of the Super Friends, Gleek was portrayed as being originally the property of the clown in the interplanetary carnival where the Wonder Twins were raised. He accompanied the twins when they ran away.

Gleek often produced a bucket to hold Zan in his water form.
